Responsibilities

Coordinate intake of new cases and requests for work on existing cases, create case files and tracking records, generate indexing, organizing documentation electronically and in paper case files, and communicating case information to case teams or individuals assigned to work or coordinate on the cases. In particular:

  • Transfer cases from one unit to another unit and update the tracking databases as needed;
  • Organize and process cases received from other units or external agencies and update the tracking databases as needed;
  • Track progress on cases, including checking Courtlink notifications, updating case files and tracking records, monitoring workflow, and reporting progress;
  • Administer and adhere to security procedures, including recording and executing permissions to case information upon receiving written approval from a Government task lead;
  • Respond to changes in the case, including drafting correspondence related to the cases and the requests to divisions, including field offices;
  • Coordinate technical/data processing support;
  • Ensure cases are closed according to existing standard operating procedures (SOP) and related documents are filed or uploaded to designated databases;
  • Monitor the Discovery and Criminal Discovery mailboxes on both enclaves for discovery work requests;
  • Coordinate with management on case assignments and ensure that work requests received in the mailboxes are opened/reopened and assigned in the case tracking system;
  • Generate management reports using data from the case tracking systems, including Excel and pivot tables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies; or an Undergraduate Degree in another field with a Paralegal Certificate; or a Paralegal Certificate with at least two-years' paralegal experience; or High School Diploma/GED with at least four-years' paralegal experience
  • One-year of automated litigation support experience with knowledge of the capabilities and use of automated resources and technology for the development, presentation, and prosecution of federal cases; Veritas experience strongly preferred.
  • Trial experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of legal research and analysis utilizing eDiscovery tools to perform assigned case development and documentation assignments which are typically covered by established precedents.
  • Excellent communication skills; oral and written, to include legal writing skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and other common software applications, to include databases.
  • Proven commitment and expertise to provide excellent customer service; positive and flexible; ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, deliver the highest quality of work, and maintain a professional disposition under extreme pressure.
This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation.
