Job Description
Steptoe LLP, a Washington is seeking a RIS Operations eResources and Information Sources Specialist. The Research and Information Services Operations eResources and Specialist supports and administers Steptoe's library, e-Resources, and maintains the RIS intranet pages and content. This role also assists the RIS Operations Manager to identify, evaluate, test, and deploy legal research resources. Also involves gathering usage statistics and creating usage reports for leadership and liaise with Steptoe IT and application engineers to support and upgrade e-Resources. This position can be based out of our Washington, DC, Houston, or Chicago office.
Essential Functions
  • Manage all levels of accessibility to e-Resources including but not limited to; login credentials (individual and firm-wide), IP authentication and Single-Sign On access.
  • Ensure the use and distribution of e-resources conforms to signed agreements and copyright generally.
  • Evaluate, test, and implement new electronic resources and library-specific software.
  • Gather usage statistics and create usage reports using Research Monitor.
  • Track available seats and licenses on a resource basis.
  • Troubleshoot access issues with Steptoe IT and vendors as necessary.
  • Support training initiatives, including one on one sessions, group presentations, and authoring pathfinders to guide users in the efficient use of eResources.
  • Respond to eResources' requests on Quest.
  • Manage and update vendor and customer support contacts on Research Monitor.
  • Create and maintain RIS intranet pages and content.
  • Support the RIS Operations Manager as required in the overall delivery of the firm's research and information services subscriptions and operational workflow.
Non-Essential Functions
  • Other duties may be assigned, as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
  • ALA-Accredited MLIS, or equivalent;
  • Database administrative experience such as ALM Law.com, CasePortal (CNS), Lexis +, Overdrive Marketplace, Vital Law, Westlaw, and West KM;
  • Experience working with Integrated Library Systems, Research Monitor, and SharePoint.
  • Experience working as a professional librarian in a law library setting is preferred.
