Overview:

HKS is seeking a Senior Wayfinding Strategist to join our team.

This senior leader is responsible for:
* Leadership in the development of wayfinding strategy across health, sports, commercial, and urban environments.
* Research and utilization of digital technologies to deliver wayfinding solutions and improve end-user experience.
* Development of best practices for vehicular, pedestrian, exterior, interior, and ADA signage.
* Building relationships with both internal colleagues and external clients to secure new revenue-producing projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and delivers wayfinding strategy across health, sports, commercial, and urban environments
  • Develops proposals, scopes, and fees to deliver wayfinding services
  • Cultivates thought-leadership on the role of wayfinding in a user's experience of the built-environment
  • Researches and applies digital technologies to deliver wayfinding solutions and improve end-user experience
  • Creatively solves complex informational, visual, and navigational challenges
  • Creates client presentations that effectively communicates strategies and designs
  • Understands ADA guidelines and researches local codes
  • Prepares sign programming using sign location plans, message/sign schedules
  • Works with design team to create technical design drawings for fabrication, bid, and final production-ready artwork.
  • Works closely and professionally with senior leadership and mentors junior talent
  • Maintains and prioritizes multiple competing priorities and deadlines
  • Manages and communicates with fabrication vendors
  • Interacts professionally with clients and team
  • Participates in, and leads, client meetings

Qualifications:

  • Accredited professional degree in Graphic Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Computer Graphics or related field
  • Typically 15+ years of wayfinding strategy experience
  • Experience working with clients in several markets including: commercial interiors, health, urban, higher education, sports, and venues
  • Efficient and effective at Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, CADtools (SketchUp or other 3D software a plus)
  • Efficient and effective in sign message schedule programs
  • Solid understanding of working in a built-environment, able to comprehend architectural scales, sections, plans and elevations
  • Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design guidelines and building codes
  • Solid knowledge of experiential branding processes and its integration into architectural and construction processes
  • Excellence in written, graphic and oral communications with clients and team
  • Ability to establish messages, review sign text and layout to ensure effectiveness, accuracy of compliance and final design with established signage standards, design and logos
  • Ability to plan for the assigned projects and execute as per the specifications of the established design
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to problem solve and collaborate on innovative solutions
  • Ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in team environment
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
