Job Description
Steptoe LLP, a Washington is seeking a Pricing Analyst to join its Client Value Department. This role will be responsible for assisting the Client Value team and lawyers with analysis in connection with strategic pricing arrangements, RFPs and client proposals. Works closely with lawyers and with administrative departments such as Finance, Accounting, Billing, Marketing and Business Development, New Business Intake, the General Counsel's Office, IT and others. This position may be based out of any of our U.S. offices.
Essential Functions
  • Analyzes fee arrangements and develops sophisticated pricing models to improve realization and increase overall profitability.
  • Performs analysis on Firm's clients and matters; identifying revenue, realization and profitability trends.
  • Designs and implement financial models to project impact of rates, pricing arrangements and staffing models on clients/matters.
  • Assists with preparation of RFP responses; works collaboratively with the Business Development team and attorneys to provide input to pricing specific sections of pitches and proposals.
  • Review, track and evaluate alternative fee arrangements.
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc reports for Client Value, practice group, and firm leadership review of firm and client performance.
  • Assists with the annual review of firm standard rates and annual client rate review process.
  • Assists with coordinating reporting capability improvements with IT and Financial Systems.
  • Collaborate with Billing team to ensure accurate deal entry into firm and client financial systems.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Two to four years working in a law firm or professional services firm, preferably in areas related to finance, accounting, pricing and legal project management; other similar work experience will be considered

  • Advanced Excel skills; proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with VBA, SQL, and/or PowerBI a plus
  • Experience with database tools and financial reporting tools a plus
  • Experience working in a Law Firm is required
  • Experience working with Elite 3E or Elite Enterprise a plus

The anticipated salary for this position is $95,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
