Chief Engineer Serve as an engineering leader at JLL!
The Chief Engineer oversees the efficient, safe and responsible operation of all building systems and equipment while also leading the engineering team. You will oversee an engineering team of 5 at a client site in Baltimore, Maryland. This position requires the Chief Engineer to be on-site. Local market requirements may vary slightly.
Schedule: 7am-3pm (flexible) Monday through Friday, on-call rotation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO Oversee the maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems Supervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training, coaching and personal development Create and routinely update a documented plan that includes preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance procedures Participate regularly in client-facing and property team communications Lead, create and manage engineering budget and participate in overall operating budget process Assist in the development of a capital improvement plan Select, schedule, supervise and direct contractors; monitor and document performance Respond effectively to emergencies and service calls Lead and organize ongoing technical, safety, and operational process training programs and procedures Other duties as requested by property management team and/or client
SITE SPECIFIC CONSIDERATIONS Oversee customer facing activities including Venue Services, Event Management, Reception, Tours, Food Service, Fitness Center, and other amenities This key leadership role will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization developing strong relationships with Client and the community This professional will manage both JLL Employees and third-party vendors, ensuring consistent superior customer service Familiar with building related technology and sustainability initiatives that require monitoring/utilization information from dashboards including but not limited to energy consumption, solar consumption, lighting controls and building automation Manage financial aspects of projects with vendors, including service providers and consultants. Understanding of the financial implications of a proposed physical plan Proficient at reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical and plumbing prints, service provider agreements, purchase orders and contracts Support facilities, events, sales, and marketing activities through an engaged partnership approach. Develop and manage operating budgets in the context of a thoughtful and comprehensive strategic operating plan Ensure operations comply with state and local laws. Integrate sustainability into client operations Experience interpreting client needs and translating to project team
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE 7+ years of related experience, especially as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer or similar People management experience (leading a team) Maryland Grade 3 Stationary Engineer License or equivalent Trade school education, union training, military service or college is desirable Universal CFC EPA certification Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams) Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Comfort using ladders up to 30 feet tall Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneeling, lift and/or drive Strong customer service and communication skills
