PATH's Center for Malaria Control and Elimination (CMCE) works with PATH staff and strategic partners to coordinate expertise and programming and maximize our collective impact toward malaria elimination.

PATH seeks a Communications Associate for the U.S. President's Malaria Initiative-funded Reaching every at-risk community and household with malaria services (PMI REACH Malaria) global project. PMI REACH Malaria is a five-year project that builds on 15 years of PMI investment to reduce disease and death caused by malaria. Working in close collaboration with national malaria programs and local partners, PMI REACH Malaria supports planning, delivery and monitoring of malaria prevention and service delivery from a national to community level, with a focus on reaching the unreached.

The CommunicationsAssociate will report to the Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases Senior Communications and Advocacy Officer and coordinate and implement communications plans and activities to support the implementation of the PMI REACH Malaria project.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop communication materials from concept to completion through research, writing, editing, and proofreading content - e.g. newsletters, fact sheets, messaging, briefs, infographics, videos, and project documentation such as presentations and reports. Liaise with expert reviewers to gather story ideas and ensure accuracy and clarity of technical content.
  • Support development of the project's communications deliverables, including social media content, photo and video assets, project newsletter, and success stories.
  • Support maintenance of the project's website content, including drafting and publishing success stories, blogs, and case studies; regular updates of web content; and updating the project resource library.
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency across external communications materials. Ensure PMI REACH communications adhere to PMI web, branding and marking, accessibility, and storytelling policies and requirements.
  • Identify innovative ways to reach and engage target audiences through creative multimedia content and visuals. This may include managing design projects (e.g. videos, graphics, data visualizations), partnering with consultants as needed.
  • Support partner organizations, grantees, service providers and consultants in implementing communications activities that advance project objectives and targets.
    • Lead maintenance of project contact lists.
  • Assist team members with communication resources for presentations, events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Support organization and execution of inclusive events that feature diverse partners, share PMI REACH project technical learnings, and showcase project outcomes.
  • Consistently deliver high-quality work within established deadlines and adapt and respond to changing communications needs.

Required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field, plus at least 3 years of professional writing and communications experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in social media and blog management.
  • Strong and creative writing skills, ability to translate technical content for general audiences; experience writing public health content preferred.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with multimedia and online communications, including webinars, blogs, etc.
  • Excellent English language oral communication, writing and editing skills. Strong interpersonal communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines while balancing multiple projects and stakeholders.
  • Strong time and task management skills. Well-organized and detail oriented with good follow-through.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and as part of a cross-disciplinary, global team across multiple time zones.
  • Available to travel nationally and internationally up to 15%.

We offer our employees a competitive salary and generous benefits. For candidates based in the U.S., the annual salary range for this position is $64,347 - $91,794. The final salary is based on a variety of objective factors.
