Here's what you'd do:
  • The Senior System Administrator will be responsible for developing and managing computing infrastructure that supports the development and testing of spacecraft systems, including servers, storage, network, workstations, and all installed software.
  • The individual will also implement and execute computer and information security plans according to the organization's requirements and standards.
  • Day-to-day system administration, tasking, and prioritization of work in support of DOD project user needs.
  • Includes but is not limited to workstation and server setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Management of Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux servers, Windows 10 and Windows Servers, VMWare VSphere installation and administration, and VMWare Workstation deployments, AWS VPC and EC2, Juniper firewalls, Dell Network Switches, Netapp, Dell, and HP SAN storage, MediaWiki and other web-based applications.
  • Provide direct mission support in a classified and unclassified Linux desktop and server environment.
  • Support long-term planning and management of infrastructure, including maintenance, upgrades, and replacement of obsolete equipment.
  • Researching new technologies for these environments includes working with IT management or government business leaders to analyze new server requests and deliver allocated server administration tasks within defined timeframes.
  • Responsible for tasking and management of system administrators at both the Alexandria and Florida offices, as well as DOD government locations.
  • Responsible for building and deploying large SANS in VMware VSphere environments.
  • Responsible (backup support) for corporate office system administration and maintenance of IT assets on an as-needed basis.
  • This supports supplemental government projects with development workstations, servers, and training lab(s).
  • Responsible (backup support) for system administration of at least two other government site projects.
  • Tasks include but are not limited Linux Developer & OPs workstation setup, maintenance, & troubleshooting.
  • Linux and Windows-based server deployment and maintenance; Cisco and Juniper switch configuration; Cisco firewall configuration; and VMWare ESXi and VCenter administration.
  • Provide Tier 1\Tier 2 support to the user community.
  • Active Top Secret DoD Clearance required.

Pay: $92,200.00 - $158,400.00/yr.

Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Active Top Secret Clearance required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or Software Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of operations experience in an enterprise setting and O&M (backup/recovery strategies, advanced troubleshooting, patching, hardening, etc.).
  • Minimum of 5 years of Linux administration experience in RHEL6, 7, and 8 environments, including total management of installations, NFS and application configurations, and troubleshooting of all aspects of Linux servers.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in infrastructure and Linux/Unix-based application support experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive VMware experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive Knowledge of Data Storage Technologies such as NAS or SAN.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive with Computer hardware repairs, Networking Concepts and Protocols, Linux Windows system administrator, Virtualization, VSphere/VSAN, and SAN deployments.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Security + certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive knowledge in AWS EC2 & VPC environments.
  • Experience in executing information assurance plans and procedures.
  • Experience in collecting and communicating user requirements to supervisors to enhance current and future design and implementation of customer systems.
  • Proven experience independently researching, planning, presenting, implementing, and maintaining substantial IT infrastructure solutions.
  • MySQL application and database system support experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supporting tasks associated with designing, building, implementing, and administrating the On-Premises and Cloud server environment.
  • Interface and represent user community to enclave IA/IT groups.
  • Programming Languages: Shell Scripting (bash, csh) and HTML/CSS.
  • COTS Products: Apache Web Server, Netapp, RedHat Satellite Server, RedHat IDM, Juniper, Fortinet Fortigate, Dell Servers & Switches, VMware VSphere.
  • Background in SaaS infrastructure and service development, ideally across various software, operational, and networking aspects.
  • Good knowledge of VSphere, Windows, and MacOS.
  • Good understanding of DISA STIG requirements and implementation.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP and LAN/WAN networking.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Candidates should be comfortable in both Linux/UNIX and Windows server environments and capable of supporting end-user scientific workstations.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to document and follow up on customer requests assertively.

  • Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen.
