Job Description

The Building People, LLC, has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Manager (SPM) - IoT and Smart Buildings. The SPM will lead and manage the installation and continuing support of IoT smart sensors in federal facilities (e.g., occupancy, air quality, energy related metering, leak detection etc.). The SPM will be responsible for managing the team, planning and procurement, interfacing with the client and sub contractors, and will be ultimately responsible for the success of the project. An ideal candidate will not be personally performing the installation or integration services themselves but will be experienced and knowledgeable to work with the technical staff to implement the project and troubleshoot issues. Experience with federal facilities is not automatically required, but an ideal candidate must be able to understand and mitigate federal policies and requirements; especially cyber security aspects. The position is envisioned to be remote, but travel may be required to sites in the continental United States - especially at the technology installation phase. Preference will be given to candidate with experience with IoT installation, but a solid track record of leading more traditional IT projects is also desired.


Required Experience & Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to manage a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and GSuite or related software
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and troubleshooting skills
  • Serve as main point of contact for the client and corporate staff
  • Develop and manage all aspects of the project engagement from planning, subcontract and external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues and ensure overall project is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of the strategic objectives.
  • Maintain full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment to delivery.
  • Manage project scope and changes
  • Prepare detailed milestone-based project plans and regular reporting requested by the client for all phases of the project.
  • Perform internal quality control reviews to ensure project is proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards; analyze issues and troubleshoot problem areas; develops risk mitigation strategies; monitor and track resolution of issues and conflicts to ensure critical path deliverables.
  • Develop and deliver program presentations to various audiences, including project team, clients, and key stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
  • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources and chair the project management team meetings.
  • Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews as necessary.
  • Oversee the design and deployment of hardware and software programming based on project plans, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Manage technology start-up, commissioning, and functional testing
  • Collaborates with the engineering team on the system configuration, network and software requirements, graphics, programming, and sequences of operations.
  • Experience meeting and mitigating cyber security requirements.
  • At least 10 years of program leadership experience and/or IT systems, and at least five (5) years of with IoT smart sensor technology installation.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience working with federal and commercial clients IT systems and integration of new software/hardware platforms.
  • Knowledge of major building systems (e.g., HVAC, BAS, Advanced Metering)

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical field

Preferred Education

  • Niagara Ax or N4 certification

Travel

  • Overnight travel may be required to additional locations where the technology is deployed, especially at the beginning of the project

Background Investigation

  • Background Investigation required

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times
