Position Summary:
To oversee the project accounting function of the Client s Accounting System (CBAS), including providing user support to users establishing and budgeting to projects, developing reports that support user needs, performing analyses on financial variances, and assisting in monthly closing and reconciliation procedures.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Record all journal entries, perform all account analyses, and handle all audit requests relating to Leases and Subleases as per ASC 842.
  • Evaluate changes in lease contracts and amendments to assess the impacts on Lease Accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries relating to the close process for all assigned areas including but not limited to banking, assets, liabilities, revenue, and expense.
  • Perform all bank reconciliations for assigned accounts resolving reconciling items in Workday among the cash, bank, and general ledger balances.
  • Perform key validation procedures all throughout the close process to ensure the integrity of the financials such as comparing parent accounts with spend categories, and activity code and cost center combinations.
  • Oversee the resolution of variances deriving from the issues detected from the validation procedures, ensuring that issues are not only resolved but do not recur.
  • Owns the posting rules in Workday for the general ledger-related accounts ensuring that the set-up is complete and accurate and that new accounts are established in accordance with Workday protocols.
  • Maintains the Chart of Accounts and related fields for audit purposes ensuring that all changes are documented, follow the approval process, and are set up correctly in the ERP.
  • Participates in special projects which may arise during the year.
  • Assists with the monitoring of grant-related timesheets for compliance.

Experience:
Mix of public and private accounting CPA desired

Internal Contacts:
  • Maintains regular contact with staff within the organization with the purpose of providing user support, training, and reporting for the project accounting function and other related systems.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
  • B.S. in Accountancy or a related area
  • Work experience with a computerized accounting system, performing financial analysis
  • Related Skills & Other Requirements:
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Computer literacy, including Lawson Insight Activity Module and report-writing software (desired)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Very good interpersonal skills
