Position Salary Range $18+ (commensurate with experience)
General Responsibilities
Applications will be put into the pool for available positions when available. Hiring is done on a rolling basis as the need arises.

The Horowitz Center Technician provides technical support to facilities users hosting events in Horowitz Center venues. The Technician will operate audiovisual, lighting, and computer equipment and is responsible for the setup, running, and tear-down of the assigned event. The Technician will also monitor the venue to ensure safety per Howard County Fire Safety codes.
Work Performed
  • Sweep and/or mop the stage if necessary in preparation for the event.
  • Prepare the stage for the execution of the event prior to facility user's arrival. This includes setting up chairs, music stands, lecterns, and push pianos on/offstage.
  • Prepare any lighting and audio stage setups for the event.
  • Run lighting and/or audio consoles for the duration of the event.
  • Focus any special lighting for the event.
  • Return the venue to original state after event completion.
  • Assist Production Electrician with light hang and focus
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:
  • Aspects of the job may require physical labor including high climbing.
  • Use of machine tools, loud noise, high voltage electricity, and very hot equipment.
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions during load-in/load-out for indoor/outdoor facilities.
  • Exposure to dust and noise.
  • Work within a diverse learning community involving students, volunteers, and professionals.

Successful candidates should have a moderately strong understanding of theatrical lighting, professional audio systems, professional video/projection equipment, digital audio consoles, Windows and Mac computer systems, knowledge of QLab and Microsoft Office software, as well as excellent customer service skills. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. from floor to table height, work in high places (on catwalks), climb ladders and stairs, and have a keen sense of hearing and vision.
